We’re a grassroots movement of thousands of local Indivisible groups with a mission to elect progressive leaders, rebuild our democracy, and defeat the Trump agenda.

Indivisible was founded in response to Trump’s election - but we know that Trump is a symptom of a sick democracy, not its cause. We face two fundamental problems: first, our democracy was rigged from the start in favor of the white and wealthy. Second, in the last few decades, an alliance of white nationalists and the ultra-rich have been actively working to further undermine democracy and cement their hold on power permanently. That’s how we ended up with Trump.

We have to build a democracy that reflects a broad, multiracial “we the people,” one that works for all of us and is sustained by all of us. Only then will we be able to achieve a progressive vision for our future.

Dare to Run is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate and empower women with the skills necessary to run for public office at the local, state and national level of government.

We offer women candidates the chance to participate in a one-year certificate program in pursuit of a career path in public service.  Dare to Run gives women the opportunity to be a voice for their communities by committing to run campaigns in search of elected office within two years of graduation from the program.

Dare to Run’s mission is to provide women with the skills they need to be successful during the campaign and throughout their term in office by:

    • Teaching women the history of women’s public participation in the United States since its inception
    • Coaching women to use their voices to effect public policy change and champion issues of importance to their communities
    • Instilling the fundamentals of successful campaign management, with an emphasis on successful fundraising strategies for women candidates

Cultivating a new generation of female public servants who value their constituents and use their tenure in office to serve the needs of their community as best they can

The core values of Dare to Run are highlighted in the following five principles:

    • Equality - Women should have an equal say in the development of the public policy agenda at the local, state and national levels of government
    • Collaboration - Women should work together to achieve a higher quality of life for all constituents in their community
    • Opportunity - Women should have equal opportunities to run for public office; they should not be hindered because of race, religion, ethnicity, disability, socioeconomic status, or sexual orientation
    • Diversity - Women should hold at least 50% of the seats at all levels of government, and the demographic breakdown of the population of the United States should be reflected in the composition of governing bodies at the local, state and national levels of government.
    • Respect - Women should value the viewpoints of other women, and offer support, sorority and a moral high ground on which to effect change for the rest of the country.

She Should Run is a nonpartisan nonprofit working to dramatically increase the number of women considering a run for public office.

Women are less likely to run for public office and therefore are seriously underrepresented. According to the World Economic Forum, “Gender parity has a fundamental bearing on whether or not economies and societies thrive.”

We motivate women from all walks of life to explore the possibility of public office by identifying and tackling the barriers to elected leadership. We do this through data-driven content, education, and collective action.

Women are underrepresented at all levels in the 500,000+ elected offices across the U.S. That is why She Should Run is driven by a vision of seeing 250,000 women run for local, state, and federal offices by 2030.

When more women run, more women lead. And as more and more women from the She Should Run Community become elected officials at all levels of office, they become role models to girls and young women, normalize women’s leadership, and amplify the need for gender parity in office. By encouraging more women to run, we are building a more effective and representative government that can meet the challenges of the 21st century.

The Girls Opportunity Alliance, a program of the Obama Foundation, seeks to empower adolescent girls around the world through education, allowing them to achieve their full potential and transform their families, communities, and countries. We engage people around the world to take action to help adolescent girls and the grassroots leaders working to educate them.

The Girls Opportunity Alliance aims to lift up the work being done around the world to empower adolescent girls through education by:

    • Inspiring, empowering, and connecting grassroots leaders
The Foundation wants to ensure that those on the front lines are supported with effective strategies to enhance and scale their work. We created an online network to connect leaders to one another so they can share best practices, resources, encouragement, and ideas.
    • Driving specific commitments through GoFundMe
These grassroots leaders need more than visibility and connections to one another—they need financial support. To close this gap, the Foundation worked with GoFundMe to launch the Girls Opportunity Alliance Fund, a fund that will directly support grassroots leaders working on girls education. Donations to the fund may be general or designated by donors for specific projects listed on the Girls Opportunity Alliance GoFundMe page.
    • Inspiring and challenging young people in the developed world to join us
We want young people in the United States and around the world to learn about this issue and get involved. From encouraging young people to share a presentation on this issue at school to collaborating with girl group organizations who have expanded their programming to include work on adolescent girls education, the Foundation is offering resources to help young people turn their passion about this issue into action.

Working together, we can increase support for and awareness of community programs that are making a difference, spark a vibrant global discussion on adolescent girls and the barriers that prevent them from reaching their full potential, and provide opportunities for global citizens to take action.
