COMMENTARY FROM A BADASS WOMAN

COMMENTARY FROM A BADASS WOMAN
COMMENTARY FROM A BADASS WOMAN

I have written and rewritten this post in my head everyday since the wee hours of Wednesday morning, November 6th.  Each time I failed to complete the task, I told myself I needed one more day to clear my head of some of the anger, pain, fear and bewilderment I was feeling about what had happened on election day.

As an activist for many issues and candidates over the years, I have had more than a few disappointments when the outcomes were not to my liking.  But I have never experienced the range or intensity of emotions that I feel over the election of Trump.  Under different circumstances I might question my reactions except that all around me friends, acquaintances, and public figures whose opinions I trust are expressing many of those same feelings.

Slowly our thoughts and conversations are bringing us to this recognition: Focusing the energy of those emotions in constructive ways against what lies ahead can and must be what we do going forward.

It would be much easier to scream and cry and throw things or let ourselves become immobilized by the weight of these emotions.  To do any of these would be to let magas get what they want and take away the power we still have.  If we focus all our strength and power, acting as one, we can save our democracy.

It will not be easy.  It will take making a real commitment like you have probably not made before.  Sign petitions, write letters, make phone calls...help flood state legislatures, governors, the Senate, the House and the President demanding they serve we the people, not their wealthy cronies.  When necessary, march and protest...so they will hear our voices loud and clear.

https://womensvoicesmedia.org/ has a Resource Library to be just that - a resource on issues and organizations.  Accessing the organization websites can inform you of the issues you most care about.  Many of the sites provide a means for sending email and signing petitions to any and all government officials.  Bookmark the sites and/or sign-up to receive their newsletters (including womensvoicesmedia.org).  In no time you will be able to do your part to help save our democracy with a minimum of time and energy.

LET'S  DO  THIS...TOGETHER!
