Invierno Porteño by Astor Piazzolla,

Invierno Porteño by Astor Piazzolla,

performed by Stephanie Jones
Arr. Sérgio Assad

Another one of my favourite pieces to play - it is such a beautiful work, an expressive mixture of singing melodies and captivating rhythm. Piazzolla's New Tango is not just simple dance music, but an emotionally rich world, melding together nuances of both classical and jazz music.  I hope you enjoy!

Invierno Porteño is one work from a set of four tango compositions. Each piece was conceived as an individual composition, but together they form the Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas, or The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. Porteño is an adjective for people born in Buenos Aires, and the word Invierno refers to Winter.
