Ignite
Ignite—founded in 2010 and non-partisan—is probably the most college-related of the organizations offering training and help for women interested in running for public office. They have college chapters all around the U.S. These student-run chapters support political activism by encouraging others in their community to register to vote. Ignite also has high school programs in California and Texas and gives high schools the opportunity to license their curriculum to bring non-partisan political activism to their school. Fellowships are offered to students for launching regional Ignite chapters and gaining leadership skills.
IGNITE’s model encourages young women to run and win and to dramatically increase their political engagement on every level. We know that programming is not enough: we need inspiring messages consistently reinforced and reflected in our culture – words which convey and compel young women to be politically motivated, and to declare their political ambition.
Additionally Ignite has a program that guides parents in empowering their daughters and also offers political leadership conferences around the U.S.
